Merchant's Lane is a beautiful cafe filled with rustic charm located at the bustling Chinatown. Housed in a shop house with a colorful history, the cafe is not obvious and needs some exploring before you are able to find it.
Entering the green door, you will notice a red glow which reminisce of its past.
Walking up the flight of steps will land you in beautiful cafe that will be very instagram worthy.
The cafe is infused with vintage ornaments and plenty of flora and fauna.
There is an old world charm to this cafe.
There are several sections in this cafe to enjoy your cuppa and we choose to have a seat in the main section where the ceiling is designed to allow natural light to flow in.
The menu is simple but delightful.
We started with a declious cup of flat white and the missus went with her favourite mocha.
As usual. the missus went with the seafood selection and the South China Sea was her choice. This dish is a generous slice of grilled salmon and large 63 deg eggs, some salsa and a crisy array of homemade hash.
One word to describe the molten egg yolk, Shiok!
The salsa provided the zest and perfectly enhance the flavours of the salmon. The crispy hash is a wonderful alternative to the otherwise common mash and provided an interesting texture to this dish.
Anyone enjoys doing this too?
I had the Taukay(Boss) which is a beef burger housed in 2 delicious charcoal buns. It was a over the top dish with a lot going on. The fried egg was a wonderful combination with the overflowing minced beef patty. The peanut sauce also made it a very awesome burger. I am in love with the brinjal fries which is encased by a crispy batter and which brings kfc to mind.
Our food journey at the cafe ended there but we were still keen to experience what the beautiful cafe had to offer. The missus had a great cup of organic matcha latte which is housed in a beautiful Japanese looking cup. I had the Superfruit lemon tea which is excitingly reddish in colour.
Our tummies were already bursting at this point and we have no more room to try the mouth watering pastries.
This has got to be one of the best cafe experience we had. We were particularly impressed with the charming looks of the cafe and also left very satisfied with the food on offer. A definite must visit if you are here in Kuala Lumpur.
