Hotel review: La Vida Hotel Taichung Taiwan Deluxe room ~ great 4 star property in the heart of town (near to Fengjia night market)

La Vida is a modern 4 star property in the heart of Taichung that is a stone's throw away to Fengjia night market. The warm hospitality of the service crew with the contemporary rooms makes our short stay in Taichung a very comfortable one. Read on to find out more!

Getting to La Vida hotel is fairly easy. We took an uber from Taichung station which cost around 260twd/SG$11.80. We arrive around 130pm but could not check ourselves in with the hotel claiming that the rooms were not ready. We were bit skectical as the establishment was not particularly busy. The staff very friendly and helpful and requested us to come back around 3pm when our rooms will be ready.

We decided to check out the lobby area as there were time. Walking to the end of the spacious lobby leads to a lounge area where all guests are welcomed.

You can get access to the computers over at this area if you need to catch up on emails.

Magazines and light refreshments are freely available for guests enjoyment. Nothing fancy but I thought it is a nice touch of hospitality.

There are several comfortable seating areas to rest and relax if you have some time to spend.

Beyond the lounge is the smoking area with a nice greenery feature wall. Smokers can puff away enjoying the shrubs that are very pleasant to the eyes.

After getting our lunch, our room were ready and the friendly guest relations officer provided us with a map of the area and explained the various places of interest. He then guided us towards the lift and proceeded to send our luggage to our room. Very warm hospitality.

Our well appointed Deluxe room come in at 33sqm which was quite spacious. It feature a huge King size bed that you can have plenty of fun rolling around the comfy bedding.

A seating area is tucked in one corner and it brightens up the space with its colourful cushions.

The mini bar contains some chips which are complimentary. It does not cost a lot but is a nice touch for guests when the hunger pangs kicks in after a long day of exploring the beautiful city.

The hotel provide good quality tea and also fancy drip coffee which were delicious.

Coke and orange juice are also up for grabs.

Everything you will expect of a premium four star hotel 's wardrobe can also be found here.

I love the well labelled switches which illustrated what the various buttons do. A simple concept missed by many establishments that often leads to time wasting trial and error .

We check out the aesthetically pleasing bathroom next and I like how they provide different colour cups. This is especially helpful during the morning and you don't have to rack your brains to remember which toothbrush belongs to whom.

The provided amentites are nicely packaged. Olive oil seems to be well loved by this property as their showering solutions are all olive oil based.

The best part of coming back to your hotel is knowing that you can have a warm bath to look forward too. While it is no St Regis, you still get a decent TV to entertain yourself while enjoying a soak.

A separate shower stall allows travelers in a hurry to get yourself cleaned up if there is no time for a bath.

One of the perks of the hotel is that you will never get hungry with Fengjia night market literally a stone's throw away. There are plenty of street snacks and enough things to leave a hole in your pocket.

As we are heading to Sun moon lake the next morning, we got the breakfast option to avoid the hassle of venturing out of the hotel for food. The restaurant is fairly busy with a wide range of buffet items to cater to international guests.

The usual toast is definitely a main stay in every breakfast buffet.

Some of the fermented vegetables which I was not in the mood to try.

As you can see from the pictures below, the items are not replenished promptly when the stock is low. That being said, the food is quite delicious.

Apart from the buffet items, you can order eggs and I got myself a bowl of piping hot ramen which was far from perfect but did its role to warm up my belly.

While many of the 4 star hotel in Taiwan appear less than desirable due to the effects of wear and tear from their long history, this is quite different for La Vida Hotel. The establishment fulfilled international 4 star standards with a great location and warm hospitality. The clean and spacious rooms are another plus and we will definitely be back if we ever come back to Taichung
