Spa home sun mooon lake luxury hotel perch itself by the sun moon lake giving patrons a magnificent view of the picturesque lake. Being in the middle of the small town makes it an ideal venue to explore the vicinity and the tranquil surroundings make it an ideal area for rest and relaxation
After a bus ride of 1h 45min, we finally arrived at Sun Moon lake. Our lodging area is a 3min walk from where the bus left us off which is really convenient.
The facade of the hotel may not look much but as they say, dont judge a book but its covers. Its the rooms and quality of service that shines in the hotel.
Checking in was done at the below counter in seated positions. It was easy with the staff hospitable and efficient.
As the staff left to check the room to ensure it was presented in tip top condition, we were offered welcome drinks.
We explored the lobby area and there was a nice area to rest while waiting and also a bar. The entrance to the hotel is operated by an electronic key card which will be unlocked in the wee hours of the evening.
The only downside is to the hotel is that there is no lift and we had to climb stairs to reach our room. This can be difficult for elderly or those carrying huge luggage. That being said, the staff were at hand to assist with the luggage.
After 2 flights of stairs, we entered into a spacious 26sqm room. The King size bed awaits us with very comfortable bedding that provided the necessary supports for our back. Natural light flowed easily into the room and we love the cosy designs of the living space.
The hotel did not scrimp on hospitality by providing mineral water from Evian.
Below the bar counter, you will find a small fridge sufficient to store drinks you can purchase from the nearby convenience store.
The closet served its purpose and no bath robes provided. There was also no provided safe.
At the side of the room, a day bed awaits which can be quite nice to read with the abundant natural light and scenic views.
The dresser by the window works well for the ladies to do their make up and admiring the beautiful lake view.
A low table beside the window allows guests to admire the lake view while sipping tea.
Brightly coloured tiles accentuate the brightly lit washroom which allows plenty of natural light to flow in.
The bath lacks the luxurious vibe but the Hermes toiletries more than make up for what is lacking. We tried to request for extra shower amenities but was flatly turned down.
If a shower is what is preferred, there is a separate shower stall. No rain shower is available though.
The beauty of the hotel is its location which is a minutes walk away from the boat operators that will bring you around Sun moon lake. We spend a good afternoon touring the lake and daylight ends rather earlier at around 530pm.
There is no gym or pool to look forward too at hotel and not much recreational activities available after dark. The only saving grace is the 7-11 being 1 minute walk away which has a pretty decent whisky selection. I walked away with a bottle of Macallan 12 Fine Oak at a great price compared to what we are paying in Singapore.
The next morning, we head down to the breakfast area to dine by the lake.
A stay at the Spa home hotel to enjoy the beautiful sights of the tranquil lake is nice but one can be at a lost of things to do after dark. There isn't very much going on in the small town and I will recommend coming only for a day trip. On the other hand, if you will like to have a less hectic and more relaxing schedule, staying at Spa home could prove useful. Together with the wonderful location, decent price tag and kind hospitality, I will recommend the hotel!
