Kuala Lumpur April 2016 Day 3 & 4 The Gardens Mall, Bangsar, Quill City Mall

After a great fun for the past 2 days, it was time to move on from the hustle and bustle of Bukit Bintang and move on to a quieter part of town and continue our exploration of the city.

We left the comforts of the amazing Pullman hotel KLCC and got a uber to our new resting place at the Face Suites. The hotel is an all suites hotel which is a combination of quality furnishings with large living spaces. We believe that the hotel converted the unsold units of the condominium or left portions of it for hotel usage as the rooms are basically the size of a small condominmum.

The check in area is unlike most hotel lobby and feels large and empty. As the hotel is in its soft launch stage, things might improve down the road. There are the standard concierge and bell hops ready to assist with your luggage and service is excellent

There is a kitchenette with a full range of crockery should you decide to whip up a meal and as you can see, there is a large living room to laze all day.

The highlight of the hotel which is great in all aspects already will be the rooftop infinity pool at 51st floor. It offers unobstructed and unparalleled views of the city, better than some of the rooftop bars that we have visited during the past 2 days. Unlike the infinity pool at Marina Bay Sands, this one is not crowded and you can enjoy to your hearts content.

There is a gym located at the same floor which will definitely make your workout 51 times better with such breath taking views.

The missus and I had a great time snapping pictures and admiring the beautiful views of the city from a bird's eye view.

It was soon lunch time and our tummies started growling and uber was again our preferred choice of transport to take us to The Gardens Mall in Mid Valley. This is a huge ass shopping mall filled with all kinds of items from mid tier to luxury fashion and is a little like our Ion in Singapore.

We can never get tired of Japanese and stopped by the new kid on the block Sou Omakase for our first ever Omakase experience where the menu will be decided by the chef whom will take you on a culinuary experience with the best of the seasonal produce.

Our Japanese fine dining experience did not disappoint with the lush interiors and superior Japanese service. The food is top notch and definitely worth another visit. You can read all about it here.

After our sumptuous lunch, we spend the time to hang around the gardens mall which has a lot to offer. Krispy Kreme donuts feel like they are on sale with prices about 1/3 those of Singapore. Boost drinks cost almost half and makes shopping much more interesting even for the guys. There is a large pet store selling lots of cute furry animals and slightly exotic pets which are interesting to see.

Our legs grew tired from exploring this huge mall and we decided to stop by the picturesque Garden cafe for a rest and also indulge in some sweet treats. The cafe has a nice ambience and looks like a scene out of a fairytale, perfect for the ladies to post some instamgram worthy shots.

After our high tea, we decided that it was time to head back to our hotel Face Suites, to enjoy the wonderful scenery and to take a nip at the awesome infinity pool. Just chilling at the edge of the infinity pool makes you forget all about your worries.

After the sun sets, beautiful lights enhance the mood at the infinity pool and the entire city also seem to come alive like candles on a cake leaving us in awe.

We left the amazing view and took a uber to Bangsar for our dinner at one of the new restaurants for our dinner. The trip took around 40mins due to the crazy jam. The area is lively and many upmarket eateries line the streets. The area seems like where the cool kids will hang out and is also a popular place to unwind after work  We settled to dine at The Insider after reading rave reviews about the place. Food and service wise was mediocre at best and we feel a little cheated having travel so far. It was our most expensive meal in Kuala Lumpur but also the most forgettable one.

We decided to have a restful evening and not venture out as the view we had of the city at our hotel was already second to none.

We woke up the next day training to catch a glimpse of the sunrise but was left disappointed with a cloudy sky and got our sorry ass back to bed.

After unpacking we headed to the nearby Quill City mall which was not crowded. The mall had a huge Aeon Supermarket and also an big departmental store. For the fashion conscious, you will be happy to find a H&M store. Many food options also caused us to struggle what to have for lunch. We eventually settle to dine at Sopoong which is a korean restaurant with a fresh outlook. Food wise, lets stop at saying that the food looks much better than they taste.

We still have plenty of time to spare and left with excited hearts to the Kenagan Wholesale City Mall which was once touted as Kuala Lumpur's Platinum Fashion Mall. To our dismay, whats left of the mall is all but rows and rows of tradtional muslim clothes. We quickly left thinking of how each shop is going to compete and differentiate among each other.

We quickly change destination to Nu Sentral which was a great last minute shopping place before heading to the airport. The mall is just beside KL sentral so passengers with a flight to catch can take the bus or train to the airport. The mall has many international brands and looks upscale. We decided to have a cuppa at the library coffee bar which have a beautiful brick wall.

Soon it was time to head to the airport and our bus took much quicker than we expected at only 50min.

It was very disappointed to find out that the Tiger airways counters will only open 2h prior to flight departure and we could not head to the lounge. The self check in counters were also only available for Air Asia passengers so dear readers, please take a mental note to only book Air Asia if you are heading to Kuala Lumpur by low cost carriers.

We had some time to spare and wondered around the modern airport which was totally what you will expect of an airport meant for low cost carriers. Everything look pretty organsied and modern.

It was great to find out that the airport provided free wifi that came with acceptable speed considering it is free so we could at least use our hps to kill the time.

It was time to check ourselves in and everything went without a fuss. We headed to the plaza premium lounge which proved to be less stellar and premium that the name will have suggested. Food options were rather limited and the lounge was tiny. The only saving grace was to down the ice cold beer which provided some relief.

We got home safely and was satisfied with our adventure of Kuala Lumpur We hope that you have enjoyed reading our adventure in Boleh Land and use it as a source of inspiration when planning your trip there too.
