Kuala Lumpur April 2016 Day 2 Chinatown (Petaling Street), Berjaya Times Square, Marini's on 57

The 2nd day of our Kuala Lumpur was spend exploring this great and bustling city hunting for the best it can offer us. Read on to find out how much fun we had!

It was the best thing to do to enjoy a dip in the pool with no one in sight and we were able to have lots of fun in the morning at the beautiful pool of Pullman hotel.

After the great exercise we had in our little oasis, we grab on to uber and headed to Chinatown in Petaling Street or what the local known as "Chee Cheong Kai".

There were many shophouses lining the street and a good variety of street food can be found. You will also be able to find many cheap knockoffs on sale. We were famished when we arrived and headed straight for brunch at Merchant's Lane.

The turquoise door stands out from the rows of shops but you will still need some keen eyes to find this place as it was tucked in a small corner. Given its rich heritage, it was understandable with its interesting history as an old brothel! The restaurant of course had a makeover done and you cannot find any remains of its sleazy past when you dine here. The only keepsake was the red lighted stairway up the restaurant.

The cafe is easily one of the most beautiful that i have visited and the food is really good as well. It positioned itself far away from the usual cafes and is a definite must try when you are in the area.

There were not many things for us to purchase and we took the skytrain back to bukit bintang area. It was our one and only experience on the skytrain as we wanted to avoid the huge traffic jam which we will face otherwise. Tickets issued are in the form of coin chips which you use to tap yourself in and out of the gantries.

I settled for a hair cut at Sungei Wang Plaza and noticed that business must have been rather bad with many stores closed and the occupancy rate heading south. The mall was rather empty and also distanced from its reputation as a shopping heaven for tourists and youngsters during its heyday.

The rest of the afternoon was spent hanging around Berjaya Times Square. This is a huge shopping mall with lots going on. There are a lot of shopping from mid tier fashion products to street style wear at bargain prices. Lots of dining options line the mall and there is even a indoor amusement park containing a roller coaster which was rather impressive. We did not have much to buy and end up doing a foot reflexology massage which was decently priced.

We wondered back to Pavilion for dinner after our food massage and hunt around for food options. This mall is a shopping haven for luxury items and is similar to Singapore's Paragon with high end labels and upscale dining options. The prices are decent and slightly cheaper than Singapore which we thought was due to the exchange rates.

After a brief shop around, we headed to the Tokyo Street located at the top floors for our dinner. The street is themed after Tokyo's Ginza district with bright and eye catching neon lights. There are many Japanese shops in this area hawking Japanese ware which is perfect for both the missus and us.

It was quite a task to choose where to have our dinner given the variety of Japanese restaurants which all look very delicious but we finally settled on Ichi Zen

We went over the board and had a huge feast. The sashimi was really fresh and highly recommended by us.

Check out our feast below.

Our stomach were almost bursting during our stroll back to the hotel when we refresh ourselves and headed to Marini's On 57 which as the name suggest on the 57th floor of the Petronas tower 3.

There is a strict dress code over here but the guest relations officer can assist by offering jackets for the gentlemen and covered shoes for the ladies. The location offers breath taking views of the city and boasts the highest rooftop bar in the whole of Malaysia. We decoded to head to the more intimate lounge which is like a gentlemen's club.

There is a huge range of whisky at this lounge and they are beautiful displayed behind the wall. The lounge is dimly lit, providing a relax atmosphere with soft music in the background.

Seats are plush leather armchairs which are posh and perfect to wind down with a glass of whisky which was what I did.

I went for my favourite Macallen double shot (RM38/S$12.70 per shot). It was a pity they do not have the 18 by the glass and I had to settle for the 12 which was not too bad in itself..

The missus had the Mellow Sundown (RM28/S$9.30) mocktail as she was not feeling too great. It was refreshing and delicious even without the alcohol.

The view offered at the lounge makes you feel like having a giant eyes' view with everything so tiny and far away below.

We came back down to Earth and took a picture of the magnificent twin towers before getting a uber to bring us back to Pullman hotel for a restful evening back at Pullman hotel KLCC

This concludes our 2nd day at Kuala Lumpur. Stay tuned for more!
