Food review: Ichi Zen @ Pavilion Kuala Lumpur

Ichi Zen is a casual Japanese restaurant serving quality authentic Japanese cuisine. It is popular among couples and also office workers looking to enjoy some quality Japanese fare.

The restaurant is in the upscale Pavilion shopping mall and is in the Tokyo street zone where you will find many shops and restaurants that are Japanese themed.

The restaurant has casual vibes and you can choose to sit by the sushi bar and watch the skilled chefs prepare your favourite sushi or like us, choose to dine by the regular tables.

We decided to go on a feast and started with a Sashimi platter which was very fresh. The meats were thickly sliced and literally melt in your mouth good. The favourite was the salmon belly and the succulent scallops

We went on to have the Shake mentai Island roll whih is a beautiful platting sushi with delightful mentai sauce. The crispy salmon skin and charred mentai sauce provided great texture and a slightly smoky flavours which were very enjoyable.

Mentai seems to be the popular choice and we enjoyed the fish roe which gave omelette a new lease of life with its different textures and unique flavours.

Salmon seems to pop up in every one of our reviews and this is no different. This piece of salmon was good tasting and we enjoyed the starchy teriyaki based sauce.

We really did go overboard this time and had the Fukugawa Konabe which is a glorious bowl of piping hot soup fill with calms, various mushrooms, tofu and vegetables. The thick broth had a slightly sweet taste which was very well made.

A customary picture of our feast!

It was a wonderful dining experience at this restaurant and we did not regret coming here. The service crew are attentive and will go round top our your ocha.
