Food review: The Insider @ Telawi, Bangsar Kuala Lumpur

The Insider is one of the new kids on the block at the happening Bangsar district where the cool crowd hang out and make merry.

We arrived on a weekday's evening to a pack venue and had to had around a bit before getting our desired seats. The place has a cool vibe nad is popular among the young working crowd looking for a place to unwind after a hard day of work. Due to the popular nature, long waiting times for food can be expected and it was not that easy to get service.

The missus was not feeling too well and had apple juice to start the night. I went with the house poor cabernet sauvignon which was not too shabby.

Being greedy, I ordered another cocktail, Sunset@Bangsar which was not too bad a choice.

Our appetiser was the prawn Salad. The prawns seem to be wrapped with vermicelli and then deep fried to create the outer texture. The result was crunchy crunch and juicy prawns.

Our mushroom soup was very well made but the garlic bread that came with it was a little on the hard side.

The missus had the sole fillet which came in a cream based sauce. The veggies were a great addition and provided the necessary fiber in the dish. It was a tad disappointing to have the same prawns from the our salad earlier. We could have been told that the dish contained the same and would have ordered a different appeatiser.

I had the duck confit which was tender and succulent. The brown sauce that came with it was tasty and combine with the meat well.

To sum it up, I did not felt the price was worth it and service could have been better. The food is all right but it was far from being inspiring. The lead time from our order to being served is also far too long. For the same amount of money, I definitely had better.
