Food review: [ENTERTAINER] Shin Minori - Hidden Japanese A La Carte buffet in Robertson Quay

Tucked in the 3rd floor of UE square where foot traffic is low lies Shin Minori. Despite hidden from plain sight and in a quiet mall, the restaurant pulls in the crowds and it will not be easy to get a table without a reservation. We check out the restaurant for their lunch buffet and find out what is the hype.

We walked 3 floors up the escalator to a sparsely occupied building and was flabbergasted to find the crowds in Shin Minori. It was lucky we managed to land the last table during Saturday lunch time. It seems Singaporeans really know where to find great value and good food as we noticed the mound of plates filled with Japanese dishes

The al carte buffet menu is extensive featuring over 150 mouth watering dishes from the all time favourite sashimi to mains like udon and fried rice.

The atmosphere is casual and those who dont mind high seats can witness the chef expertly preparing each dish in front of your eyes. Coming into a Venue like this, it is important to plan your food to get the best value out of the meal. The more expensive items will definitely be the sashimi and you might also want to go easy on the sushi which fills up your tummy quickly with the starchy rice.

Green tea are refillable and comes at an additional of $1.90/pax.

As the saying goes, pictures paint a thousand words and I will let them do the talking.

The Sashimi moriawase is adequately fresh and presented with thick generous cuts.

Some soups to warm your bellies.

The soft shell crabs are great for munching with its crispy texture.

If you are a fan of innards, you will be in for a treat as they served chicken liver, heart, gizzard which are not common items for a Japanese buffet.

Some other non grilled dishes to try.

Go for the Soba or friend rice if your tummy still have room.

As with most a la carte buffet restaurant like Momoya and Sankai, some of our orders were missed and service became slow when the restaurant is busy. The best way to overcome this will be to order as much food as the table could fill. The positives outweigh the negative and this is evident from the full restaurant and the good food/ For entertainer fans, this will be an absolute steal with their 1 for 1 buffet.
