Hotel review: Hotel Dua 住飯店 Kaohsiung deluxe double ~ stylish 4 star hotel in the heart of kaohsiung

Hotel Dua is a stylish hotel with a convenient location just 1 minutes away from the famous Formosa Boulevard train station. The easy access to the mrt with convenience stalls and eateries around the corner makes it a good choice as a base to rest those weary legs after a day of shopping.

Hotel Dua easily accessible location make reaching it a breeze for us. After getting off the high speed rail, we changed to the MRT system on the red line to reach Formosa Boulevard station. Using exit 6, it is a mere 1 min walk to reach the hotel.

The facade and entrance of the hotel stands out from the mundane looking buildings surrounding it., adding life and vibrancy to the area.

We were early and left to explore Cijin Island after leaving our bags with the reception.

Before leaving the comforts of this 4 star property, I just had to check out the grand looking lobby which is a vast difference from the Taiwan hotels we have stayed in during our trip.

The common thing we found is the good Taiwanese hospitality with complimentary beverages for hotel guests similar with some of the properties. A small cost for the hotel that goes a long way.

We return to a large 43sqm deluxe double decked in contemporary oriental design.

Instead of wobbly luggage stands, our room comes with a dedicated resting space for our luggage, built close to the entrance of the room to ensure our luggage lie snugly and made packing and unpacking a breeze.

Our huge King size Simmons Beautyrest bed awaits our weary body and the comfy sheets send us to dreamland in no time.

A Panasonic 42inch LCD screen with cable tv entertained us for what little time we spend in the hotel

There is also a sofa area which Hotel Dua affectionately called it the "loveseat sofa", seats at the corner of the room and can potentially accommodate a 3rd person in the room.

At the bar counter, 2 bottles of water is provided like all good hotels.

The beauty of Taiwanese hospitality ensure guests are kept refreshed with not only plain water and the beverages in the mini fridge are all complimentary.

Their mixologist came out with a award wining cocktail which you can try at their posh and cosy rooftop restuarant.

While the restaurant is not the tallest in Kaohsiung, you do get a decent view of the vast city.

Of course we indulge in some cocktails at the price of 300twd/SGD $13.50 each which is pretty decent.

Lets move our focus back to the room, in the wardrobe, you will find shoe mitts, brush, shoehorn and a bag. Pretty considerate for a 4 star property!

The standard slippers and safe is there for use.

Hotel dua did not only focus on design but also functionality as well with the well thought out switches with an indication of what each does.Simple and effective but not commonly practiced.

The dark undertones gives the washroom a cool vibe and is rather uncommon from the light tones commonly used. This provided a sense of comfort and is rather soothing.

The bathing amenities are infused with essentials oils and are made in Italy according to the label.

A whole range of other common amentites are nicely packaged in a leather clad box ready for use.

Bath tubs are luxurious indulgence in land scarce Singapore and we absolutely adore taking baths whenever we travel.

A separate shower stall is also available. A slight pity there is not rainshower.

The Toto washlet is ever present and this one comes with a nice wall art in the background. Pity there is no instructions in English to explain how it works though.

In all, we were satisfied in our stay at Kaohsiung's Hotel Dua. The great location, large and well decorated rooms make it a delight to return to our rooms after a tiring day out. The comfy bedding added great value to the price we pay in this relatively new hotel. If we happen to drop by, we will definitely be back!
