With a street name the envy of many, the Park Hotel Orchard has the perfect location for the shopaholic. Right beside Paragon and just opposite Ngee Ann City, you are literally a stone throw away from the shopping malls!
The Park hotel Group is no stranger to the hotel scene with several properties in Singapore. Its Orchard branch boast a grandeur that put its neighboring competitors to shame. The high ceilings and beautiful herringbone glass facade makes it stand out among the crowd and is one of the trendiest hotel locally.
Concierge is located at the ground floor and you will have to take a lift to the check in counters which dampens the overall experience.
The hotel can get quite busy with queues forming during the check in and out timings as you will have noticed. Having booked the club room, we were escorted to our own dedicated check in counter at the club floor. This helped avoid the queues and also smoother the disappointment with the constant changing of lifts. We were impressed with the bright and aesthetically pleasing interiors as we head to the lift for our check in.
Check in counter at the club room
A list of perks will be provided upon your check in which included tea, and evening drinks at the crystal club lounge.
The check in process was smooth and we headed to our room which did not fail to amaze me. The carpeted corridor with its curated mismatched prints leads us to our room.
The touch of contemporary makes entering the room a pleasing experience. There is a brilliant use of colours and a model-doing-the-catwalk wall mural gave out a sense of sophistication.
Showering amenities are from the hotel's own spa brand which are similar with other park hotel properties. It will more befitting of the nice room if a premium brand of amenities are provided IMHO.
Nothing to worry about with everything you need available. Non standard items included the shoe mitt and also luffa .
Luffa
Bathtubs are a definite luxury in our space constraint city and my eyes lit up seeing one. Thankfully it is clean and we took the opportunity to add take things up a notch with indulgent bath melts from Lush.
Guests here for business will appreciate the full size table and ergonomic chair.
Another perk being dished out for guests is the presence of the handy phone which allows unlimited data and even international calls to selected countries! No more hefty phone bills or the need for a travel sim card!
The International New York Times is laid out for reading pleasure and the handy platter of fruits is a welcome addition to boost ones immune system.
The fashionable lounge chair and the fancy lamp make the elegant looking room more beautiful than it already is.
Cable channels on the LCD TV keeps guest company during your stay and provided more reasons for those on a staycation to just lounge in the room and enjoy each others company.
The subdued gold curtains makes you feel like royalty and the king size bed is just the epitome of comfort with its soft linens and plush pillows.
The dresser comes with fluffy bath robes that are comfortable to put on. The safe and ironing facilities are pretty standard. The complimentary woven bag is useful to separate your dirty clothes from the fresh ones.
We check out the club lounge for our afternoon tea next. The lounge is well appointed and the quiet atmosphere helps one to keep your mind off the hustle and bustle of daily life.
The view out of the window lets you experience the full glory of the Orchard Road's cityscape.
Every table in the lounge comes with a petal of fresh Orchid, enhancing the dining experience.
The selection of food for afternoon tea helps to keep those tummies happy with a small selection of sweets and savories. I am quite happy with the service rendered from the lounge staff whom served every guest with a butler like hospitality.
Nespresso capsules and premium Gryphon tea quenches the thirst and make tea time all the more special.
During the evening, the lounge gets even better with the staff dishing out champagne, wine and a decent selection of hard liquors.
The Hors d'oeuvre in buffet style ensure that you do not drink on an empty stomach.
I cant help myself but indulge in a few glasses of Veuve clicquot.
Should you need to use the business facilities, the lounge access comes with 1h use of the meeting room.
Computers and printers are also useful for printing out documents or travel itinerary.
The selection of food at the lounges are usually lacking in variety but at Grand Park Orchard, you are presented with a selection of quality and quantity of food options that will satisfy most paletes. There are cold cuts, bread and salads for the westerner.
Asian delights are also in abundance for those in need of a savory treat
Your digestive system will love you for the juices and assortment of fruits available.
Eggs are made to order and are brought to your table by the friendly service crew.
Plenty of colourful furniture lined the bar and is a perfect place to chill and enjoy a couple of drinks. The area is rather exposed to the elements so that might be a dampener if it rains.
Another worthy mention is that the staff from the club lounge brought us a full sized cake as it was the missus birthday. We were pleasantly surprised by the kind gesture which deserve a thumbs up for the kind of hospitality rendered to us.
