Food review: Ramen Keisuke Lobster King @ Clark Quay - Luxury Lobster Broth Ramen

The Ramen Keisuke brand needs no introduction with is vast range of Ramen stalls all over the island each with their own specialties. The Clark Quay branch is no stranger to their winning formula with the snaking queue you see during meal times. With food as delicious as this, it is easy to understand why.

The facade of the store utilise bright colours and resembles what you will normally see in Shinjuku, Tokyo. Red stalls are placed outside the stall for guests to rest their tiring legs while waiting.

The interiors is aesthetically pleasing and well maintained. The theme is very Japanese like with a large bell right in the middle. One will feel as if they have been magically transported to Tokyo while dining here.

Ordering is through a white sheet of paper which is fairly easy to understand. There are only 4 dishes to choose from. A classic case of quality trumping over quantity, you just need a few good dishes instead of a array of mediocre food. There is also the option to customise the flavour and textures of your food which are welcomed by us.

For your guests, there are free flow of boiled eggs and bean sprouts in case your tasty noodles are not enough to fill you up.

The restaurant is also selling interesting drinks from Japan and we took the opportunity to give them a try. The ginger ale had a hint of wasabi taste which is not overpowering and does not clear up your nostrils like the regular Wasabi. The green tea colour was an interesting with taste of green tea in your coke. A pleasant experience to try both the drinks I will say.

For food, the missus went with the spicy miso Lobster broth with all ingredients. The broth is quite spicy after being smothered but the chilli paste. The ingredients are plentiful and we found minced pork and shrimp in the rich broth. The lobster taste was unfortunately overwhelm by the flavours of the chilli and we can only detect a faint hint of it. Taste of the noodles is true to the Ramen Keisuke brand with a springy texture and it was such a joy to slurp up the broth.

Spicy Miso Lobster broth Ramen (all ingredients) $21.90

I understand that the lobster broth takes hours to simmer it to perfection and it was an easy choice for me to sample the dedication of the chefs work with the Lobster broth Ramen(Rich Soup). The bowl of noodles is presented with the colouration that resembles our prawn noodles soup with an orange brown tone. The broth is full bodied and comes with strong lobster flavours that reminds you of lobster bisque.

The all ingredients option really does come with a lot of ingredients. The chashu were well marinated with high quality soy sauce and we could taste some hints of Mirin (Japanese rice wine). Texture wise, they are very tender with some of the fats literally melting in your mouth good! The addition of the prawn wanton added more texture to the already amazing dish and the ajitsuke tamago(soft boiled flavoured eggs) is send waves of ooohh la la down my tummy.

Lobster broth Ramen  Rich Soup (all ingredients) $20.90

A wonderful experience we had at the amazing restaurant well deserved of it long queues. The food is truly a culinary experience worth waiting for. The rich soup variant comes highly recommended with the its suberb tasting broth that we shamelessly slurp every drop up. If you are here for the lobster flavoured broth, you will probably want to give the spciy variant a miss as we found the chilli taste to be overly strong and more suited to those with a penchant for spicy food more.

If you are in the vicinity after a drink, this will be the perfect hangover food with the restaurant only shutting its doors at 5am.
