Food review: Wine Mansion @ Keong Saik Road - $5 wine, look no further

Tucked in a beautiful shophouse along the hustle and bustle of Keong Saik Road, Wine Mansion serves up delectable western spreads and a great selection of wine list. Their ongoing promotion of alcohol buffet @ $35 for 4h is a great steal and $5 drinks on Friday make this a great place to chill after work.

We were walking along Keong Saik road hunting for a restaurant and was attracted by the bright facade of Wine Mansion that had a decent menu and decided to pop by to give it a try.

The restaurant is not the largest around and thankfully we still managed to get a table. It is highly recommended to make a reservation to avoid disappointments. The restaurant is dimly lit to create a relaxed atmosphere and is perfect for unwinding after work. The great deals offered for alcoholic drinks brings in the crowds which can make it slightly noisy which spoils what will be a nice ambience for a romantic date.

With housepours at $5 a pop on Friday, it is difficult not to start with some alcoholic beverages and the missus went with rosé which had a nice Lychee flavour. It is not overly sweet and is very easy to drink. Perfect for the ladies. I had the house red which is a cabernet sauvignon. Very fruity and easy to drink. We were pleasantly surprised by the value offered from their $5 pour and will highly recommend them!

For mains, the missus had their Salmon fillet which came with a bunch of rocket leaves for sides. Sauce used for the fillet is the Tzatziki which is a first for us to try. It was an interesting combination of yogurt, cucumber bits and other condiments whipped together to provide a tangy and crunchy texture.

I had the Sirloin and it was presented sliced up nicely for ease of consumption. The steak had a nice flavour to it which I suspect came from the dry rub marinate. The sear was done nicely and the meat was layered with some spice and had a mustard based sauce which provided a good kick with every mouthful.

With sufficient room in our tummies, we wanted some dessert to share and opt for the chocolate lava cake. The dessert came nicely laid out on a sea of sliced strawberries. The caramel ice cream complement well with the chocolate.sauce that ooze out from the slice of the cake.

Service at the restaurant is adequate with the crew attentive to your needs. We were very surprised during payment when we were told that only some of the items on the menu was not available to be used with the entertainer app. This was contrary to our previous visits to others restaurant. After some talking, the friendly lady boss kindly gave us the one for one which we were grateful for.
