Hotel review: Parkroyal @ Beach Road Premier Room ~ Business like hotel to experience the surrounding cultural streets

Parkroyal at Beach Road is a 4 star hotel that is part of the Global Hotel Alliance(GHA) loyalty programs. It is comfortably situated between Bugis MRT and Nicoll Highway MRT which makes it a good base to travel around Singapore. The beautiful nightspots and watering holes opposite at Arab street makes the location even better with the scores of eateries and pubs.

We had a staycation one Saturday at the Parkroyal Beach Road and we were very pleased to find the hotel surrounding itself with beautiful flora and fauna.

The hotel was rather busy even though we arrived at around 4pm which is past the standard check in time. Check in was easy but took around 15-minutes. Staff was courteous and apologies for the wait which was very good customer service.

Even though we are just in the lead in category of the Discovery program by GHA, the friendly check in staff upgraded us by 2 categories into the Premier room. This was a nice gesture and also start of a wonderful staycation in the hotel.

After check in, we make our way through the well lit corridor to our room.

Our well appointed Premier room stands at 35sqm which provides plenty of room. The rooms were recently refurbished to include raised ceilings which helps to provide a greater sense of space. We love the ceiling lights which create a relaxing mood.

The comfortable king size bed comes with a set of quality linens which helps greatly to ease one to sleep. The designer went with muted colours for the decor which provided a relaxing ambiance and makes you feel very at home.

Instead of a luggage stand, the room provides a raised platform for you to rest your luggage for easy access and packing.

A room executive desk provides the necessary space if there is any need to do any work. We are sure the business traveler will appreciate the ample space the table provides.

Some chairs by the window are also great for enjoying a cup of coffee.

As the room is being partially blocked by the car park, naturally light does not flow into the room as well as what I will have liked. The lamps provided the alternative light source.

We like how the flat screen tv is encased into the wall and hangs like a wall art. The cable channels provides sufficient entertainment during our rest in the room.

The mini bar comes stocked with complimentary tea from Dilmah which is nothing to shout about. The fridge is also filled with various drinks and beers which I will never recommend consuming even with the convenience.

Bath robes were of the waffle kind which is slightly prickly to the skin which was adequate but my preference is for those fluffy ones. Ironing board and safe are pretty standard for a 4 star establishment like the Parkroyal.

The restroom is well spaced with some marble furnishings for the added luxury touch.

The showering area has its own stall which helps to keep the rest of the rest room floor dry. A pity such a big room does not come with a bathtub.

Amenities are provided from their in house St Gregory spa which offers much better quality compared to the generic ones sourced from Quality Amentities which are the norm for many Singapore hotels

We made our way to the pool which is also shared by guests of the service apartments.

After making your way pass the walkway/link bridge, you will be met with the pool side bar which you can use the voucher to redeem one for one drinks at.

We did not visit the bar this time but thought it will be a nice place to chill out at with the comfortable looking lounge chairs.

The pool area provides an unobstructed view of the nearby cityscape and you can see the iconic Marina Bay Sands and also the Singapore Flyer in the distance.

We check out the gym next and we found it to be very well equipped. There are plenty of free weights and also exercise equipment to make the gym buff very at home.

Breakfast the next day is served at the Plaza Brasserie located at the ground floor.

The friendly service crew will lead you to a free table and also served your desired cup of coffee. Like always, latte is brew of the morning for me and I like the various layers displayed by the tall glass cup.

Let me not bore you with my commentary and let the pictures show you the glory of the buffet spread which is pretty decent in my books.

Some of the food that found themselves onto my table.

The Nasi Lemak is not too bad but nowhere near the levels you will expect from the famous Changi Village stall.

Wifi speed stands at a very decent 8mbs which is good enough for general surfing and watching videos in youtube.

On the whole, we enjoyed our stay at the Parkroyal (Beach Road) and really appreciated the upgrade we got from the check in staff. Apart from the long check in time, there is nothing much for us to complaint about. The easy access to public transportation is another plus which travelers to Singapore can also appreciate.
