Hotel review: Park Hotel Clark Quay Superior Room - Great stay beside the Singapore River

One of the gems in Clark Quay area right in the heart of  town is the Park Hotel Clark Quay. The hotel is minutes away from the bustling Clark Quay night scene but is the right distance away for a restful night. Being next to the Singapore river also provides for a romantic walk after dinner to explore the beautiful city sights.

The nearest train station will be Clark Quay station and is a short walk away of about 5-8 minute. Reaching the cosy hotel lobby, you will be greeted with a refreshing welcome drink.

Space is limited in our garden city and it is no different over at this hotel and luggage can be seen placed around the lobby which is not the most pleasant sight. A screen of some sorts might make the lobby more aesthetically pleasing.

The staff were professional and check in was easy. The counter is not large and some waiting time can be expected during busy periods.

We were very kindly upgraded to the club superior rooms which is basically the superior rooms at higher floors. There is no visible difference from the regular superior rooms apart that it gives you a much better view of the surrounding areas. The corridor to our rooms were brightly lit and has a pleasant scent.

Modern furnishings and neutral colours await guest as you approached the 24sqm room. The floor to ceiling windows allow ample natural light to flow into the room and provides viewing pleasure of the surrounding cityscape.

Immerse in a restful night with the plush bedding. A 32 inch Tv provided the in room entertainment with decent channels of cable tv.The entire floor is carpeted which does not shock you with a bout of "cold feet" as you rise up in the morning.

The bath room is brightly lit with a good range of ammentiies. Flooring went for the practical approach rather than luxe with the non slip tiles.

The lighted and large mirror provided the stage for the ladies to express their make up skills.

2 bottles of water with compliments are provided on a daily basis and there is a full range of amenities provided without the chore of ringing up for service.

Bath robes provided are comfortable and we like the fact there is a rain shower.

The wardrobe is where you will find another set of bath robes and travelers will be  happy to find ironing facilities to freshen up your clothes should the need arise.

The arm chair will be useful for guests to keep up on some of the happenings and trends around the world with the provided magazines.

If you are feeling peckish, the mini bar and fridge is stocked with a range of snacks and instant noodles all of which are  available for a small fee. For tea lovers, you will be pleased to find the provided ones are from the reputable and quality Gryphon tea company.

The handy phone has invaded most hotels for a good cause and provides traveler with a host of information and discounted tickets for many attractions. The superb benefit of being able to use it to make free international calls to selected countries and free internet services makes it really handy.

Looking out from the window provided a nice view of the surrounding architecture in the upscale residential area.

The little oasis of a pool brightens up ones mood and brings great pleasure to frolic in the tranquil waters.

Should you decide to sunbathe, there are plenty of chairs around to soak up the sunshine while tuning to your favorite beats. A little thirsty? Order a Singapore Sling from the pool side bar to quench your thirst.

Book one of these cabanas if you are planning a small party and relax by the pool. A small fee will land you one of these for 2 hours to make merry and have a few drinks in.

For those that still needs a good workout on a holiday, there is a small but sufficient gym hidden in a corner for you to move closer to those six packs.

The morning breakfast buffet is at the Brizo restaurant. The place have various offerings that cater to different cultures. My favorite is their omelette which is one of the best i ever had. The chef expertly roll it up into a nice shape. A slice of the knife exposes the creamy and cheesy interiors that was so satisfying.

The provided wifi comes with a respectable speed and no problem to stream some youtube videos for entertainment should the need arise.

To explore other parts of town, there is a free shuttle service to various train stations and it also brings you to Singapore's shopping belt, Orchard Road where Grand Park Orchard is situated.

On the whole, the hotel makes for a very comfortable stay. With its close proximity to various drinking holes and the abundance of restaurants nearby, there is plenty of reasons to consider this hotel for a base to explore Singapore. There are also plenty of  shopping to do in the area with malls like Liang Court and Great World city not too far away.
