Food review: Pu Tien Restaurant RWS - Michelin One Star Branch Restaurant

Pu Tien restaurant is synonymous with good quality Chinese Fujian style dish and is now celebrating its 16th anniversary. It has expanded into 10 restaurants in Singapore and I got the chance to suss out what is on offer.

The Pu Tien restaurant in popular with tourists looking for a comfortable Chinese cusine and can be packed during meal times. We like how it is decked in turquoise and very close to one of the missus's favourite Jewellery brands, Tiffany.

The ambiance and service at the restaurant is of a high standard and the friendly staff are always ready to make recommendations. We started with 2 Winter melon barley tea which is great to relieve heat and definitely something recommended to have in our Sunny weather.

As it was my birthday, the missus wanted me to have a bowl of longevity noodles and I went with the Mazu Mee Sua. It was a delicious bowl of thin Chinese noodles which i understand originated from Fujian province in China and is made from wheat flour. The noodles was served with a gravy which is savoury and full of flavour. Ingredients are generous with vegetables and shrimp providing various textures. The addition of nuts is something interesting and provided a crunchy texture

The missus was in the mood for something light and went with the Chinese Mustard Porridge. It was a pot of surprising good porridge with big portions and full of ingredients. The grains rice have been well broken down during the cooking process making it easy to digest and it was akin to drinking a pot of really good soup. You can find bits of seafood like mussels and shrimps which was a surprise at that price point.

To accompany our mains, we ordered the Deep Fried Tenggiri fish which was crispy and came with a soy based deep which was perfect to eat with the fish. The fish is fried to a golden brown but was not flat and dry on the inside which was commendable. Slices of fish are not the thickest but they were certainly very enjoyable.

In all, the friendly pricing of the restaurant is amazing with the quality of food and service and i highly recommend this restaurant for its Chinese food. Do check it out if you are in the vicinity and craving for some Chinese. Do take note of the strict dining hours as they do not accept guests past their stipulated timings.
