Baja Fresh serves you great quality Mexican cusine in a casual environment. Located in the central area, the restaurant is easily accessible and attracts students from the vicinity and also popular with the salaryman.
Facade of the restaurant is really inviting with happy hours for beers their signature magaritta. Every 2nd drink will only cost you $6 all day long which is an awesome deal. We like this place so much, we visited them 4 times to bring you this review.
Menu is really extensive with various Mexican food. I like the ability to customise your food and decide the toppings that comes with your meals. This is specially handy for picky eaters.
The layout of the restaurant is very much different from a conventional restaurant and resembles a fast food chain where there is a counter to order food. Upon ordering, you will receive a number tag where the service crew will find you and sent the orders to your table after they are freshly prepared.
A salsa bar will be the next destination where you can pick up their freshly made salsa which was fresh and very tasty when combined with the tortilla chips. If you order soft drinks, you can also serve yourself with the dispenser.
Check out the selection of the various salsas from the mild to the more spicy varieties.
The Margarita were perfect, ice cool and very refreshing and they did not skim on the amount of Tequilla.
Margarita [$12.95 for 1, 2nd drink at $6]
The only draft beer available was Heineken. They also have a good range of bottled beers which we did not try in our visits.
Draft Heineken $11.95
The Quesadilla was moist and the pieces of steak in hit provided a nice
chewy texture. The blanket of melted cheese was a joy to behold as you
attempt to separate the Tortilla into smaller pieces and you meet the
gooey cheese strands in the process. The avocado dip at the side work
wonders as they provided another form of richness to the already
flavourful dish. Definitely on the money.

There are some steps to follow to have this enticing dish. 1st, grab a tortilla and place some meat, beans and rice if you desire. Do note that there is limted capacity to the tortilla and do not overload it unless you want it to explode into pieces mid flight into your mouth.
2nd step, add some guacamole and sour cream to add another dimension to the dish
3rd step which is optional, you can places those fresh salsa if you desire some the spices to dance on top of your tongue.
Their tacos were absolutely amazing and the toppings of beef steak were generous. The rice can be a bit much after loading up on the 3 tacos which I found out. I recommend having just 2 tacos unless you want a bursting stomach. Adding on some salsa made it very enjoyable to chow down on the tacos that were full of flavour.

The missus Burrito was a sight to behold. It was overflowing with juices and which was expertly wrapped to contain all the goodness. The tortilla displayed grill marks and texture was soft. Pack with generous serving of cheese, lots of salsa, you will have to take caution when having this super juicy Burritto as it can be quite messy. This is not recommended as a dish to go for if you intend to have a second date with a lady.

If greens are your thing, opt of the carb light salads. One worthy of mention will be the zesty Lime Shrimp Salad. Generous servings of prawns is layer on top of fresh greens among a myriad of flavours that serve to delight your tastebuds.

Nachos Grande with beef topping (+$3) [$17.95]
If you are like the missus and prefer the seafood variety, you can request for the mahi mahi topping. This option is not in the menu and the firm texture of the flesh goes well the the tortilla chips. It was certainly delightful to squeeze every possible ingredients on the limited land area of the chips and have a big mouthful to taste the range of flavours.
Nachos Grande with fish topping (+$3) [$17.95]
The last item we tried is the Burrito mexicano in Enchilado style. The burrito will be smothered with thick red chili sauce and melted jack cheese which sounds awesome. The level of tartness was more manageable than I hope it will be and resembles the sauce of Macdonalds' curry sauce which happens to be my favourite. The burrito had a crispy outer layer and a slice of the knife reveals a bed of rice which leave me overload with carbs after the end of my meal. The healthy amount of salsa help to balance it all up and my taste buds leap with joy after the drizzle of the delicious sauce on the rice.
I will probably give the Mexicano Burrito a miss on my next visit as it was simply too filling.

All meals come with a small but substantial bag of tortilla chips which we took great joy to cover the chips with the freshly made salsa and guacamole or sour cream if your meal comes with it. We do always find it a challenge to finish the bag of chips after our meal and we usually grab a container full of salsa to go and they make a great snack during the couch potato sessions.
Baja fresh is one of our favourite restaurants and for good, fresh and tasty Tex-Mex cuisine, look no further and head down. Highly recommended to grab a pint or a Margarita to wash down the glorious chow. Do head early to grab a seat during the weekends or risk being crowd out.
