The flagship of the Village hotel chain, Village Hotel Katong is a 4 star hotel located in the cultural district of Joo Chiat and Katong. The hotel boosts a elegance of modern contemporary design with a touch of Perankan heritage.
Situated in the same vicinity of Katong V, the hotel provides all the necessary convenience of a huge supermarket and various eateries within the same building.
The hotel lobby is classy and spruced up with Perankan style decor.
The large lobby offers plenty of comfy sofas to rest those tired legs.
Checking in was a simple process with the staff polite and professional.
We booked the deluxe double room which is 29sqm large and offers plenty of value of the price paid. The room offers a mixture of contemporary and Peranakan inspired designs. The use of various colours really enhance the overall feel of the room which delighted us.
A large 46inch led tv entertained us with cable channels but we were slightly disappointed with the additional hissing sound effects that happens periodically.
There is no separate working desk but the space offered is sufficient to get a some work done.
An awesome feature for the traveler will be the complimentary handy mobile phone provided by the hotel. Guests will not have to worry about spending extra money on a mobile data plan or expensive roaming charges with the 4G internet access. The phone also offers free IDD calls to selected countries better it an awesome feature.
Not that it is necessary but another unique feature will be the cordless phone provided by the hotel. Standard coffee and tea making facilities are provided for guests convenience.
We found a porcelain seat chucked in one of the cupboards and decided that it prove more decorative than practical.
A mini fridge is provided to store any groceries that you may have. You may also give the housekeeping team a buzz if you will like it to be filled with snacks and drinks.
We love the no frills thermostat and also the many electrical outlets the room provides. An universal socket that accepts all kinds of plugs also helps the traveler in case we forget the travel adapters.
Another non standard feature is the outdoor balcony which offers a view of the beautiful condominiums surrounding the hotel.

We love the wall art and the illuminated sides of the mirrors which provided a touch of elegance.
The usual dental and vanity kits are standard issue for Village Hotels.
The wooden flooring of the rest room completes the look and is non slippery. The luxurious rain shower is another item we deem essential and definitely well received by us.

Our next checkpoint bring us to the pool which is well maintained and is circular shaped. The pool is 1.2m and drops to a deeper 1.8m at the other end so some supervision on your children will be necessary while swimming in the pool. A safety rope could have been provided to separate the deeper section to avoid any unnecessary mishaps.

The gym is well stocked with a range of exercise equipment to have a full body workout.
After your exercise, the steam bath located in the changing rooms can be used to clean and refresh your body.
Buffet breakfast will be held at the Katong Kitchen provides ample seating.
A shuttle bus service is provided for guest to airport which will be useful for the traveler.
The free wifi provided a strong signal.
Village hotel Katong offers plenty of value for the traveler to explore a different side of Singapore from the vintage shop houses in the vicinity. Modern convenience like the nearby shopping malls 112 Katong and Parkway parade also provided guests with plenty of dining experiences. For the couple looking for the perfect staycation, the large living spaces and the cafes in the vicinity will definitely be tough to beat.
