Food review: Kaiserhaus @ Capitol Piazza

An interesting restaurant at the newly renovated Capitol Piazza is Kaiserhaus. The contemporary restaurant brings European cuisines from the 19th century's, Habsburg Empire which covers modern day Austria, Hungary among other European nations. The rich heritage and melting pot of cultures is showcased in the food with interesting taste and textures.

The restaurant has hidden itself in a quiet corner on the 2nd floor which you can reach by the elevator. A little showcase of the food and menu is available from the 1st floor

A framed signboard at the entrance of the restaurant welcomes patrons.

The restaurant has a nice ambience and is suitable for a date and will be great for business dinners,

We start with Hirter craft beer on tap. The pilsner has a nice fruity taste while the dark lager has hints of chocolate, both very nice beers, It comes with a a nice appetizer of breads which are pretty but slightly tough to chew.

For the missus, she went with the Kaiserhaus seafood pot which is an beautiful serving of seafood goodness. We found mussels, scallops, seabass fillet, prawns in a Mediterranean style stew. The taste was unique and it was a big seafood feast!

Check out the plushy and firm scallops.

My Gourmet beef appeared more lavish and is one of the national dishes of Austria. The dish was literally fit for a king and was the favourite of a former Austria emperor. The extravagant dish has lots going on and seems to be the restaurants' signature dish.

I was served a wholesome pot of beef stew.

Which contain pieces of bone barrow like this.

Following the instructions, I apply the bone marrow onto the rye bread and it was absolutely delicious. The texture of the bone marrow was similar to foie gras.

The final step will be to enjoy the tender beef with rosti, cream spinach and horseraddish sauce. The rosti was nicely pan fried, adding a nice crisp to its texture.

The horseraddish sauce was an interesting one and reminded me of wasabi minus the green colour.

The cream spinach was very tasty and delightful even on its own.

The juicy and tender meat slices of meat and there were quite a few large pieces.

Piling up the ingredients.

A big mouthful of yum.

I got an extra cheese dumpling to go with the already incredible amount of food. The dumpling was pan fried and was quite good.

As you can see, our meal filled the entire table and it was indeed lavish and fit for a king.

It was a tremendously wonderful experience dining at Kaiserhaus and the Gourmet beef soup is a must try. The flavours are interesting and the combination of textures very pleasant. The only criticism is that the soups can leave a slight oil slick at the end. Come try it and experience what it is like to dine like a king!
