Bergs proclaimed themselves as the best gourmet burgers in Singapore and we are here to find out if they can live up to that claim!
The Sunday evening sees a packed restaurant which relegated us to the end of the place for a table. We managed to change our table when a family left which provided the chance to take better pictures. The restaurant is rather small and have limited seating. The decor is simple and they have a small bar with pure blond on tap and various other bottled beers.
Being a burger joint, its target customers will of course be hungry men that are out for a boys night. Live sports can be seen on the television which makes it the perfect place to down a few beers while enjoying the company of friends. That being said, the place is still popular with couples whom could be observed having a casual date.
Their burgers are freshly made using a flat grill which reminded me of Ramly burgers. We ordered large portion and the size of the burgers are huge and about twice the size of a Ramly burger. I had the Berg burger with cheese which came with a decent serving of greens. The patty was succulent and juicy. I was given the option to choose my cheese and I went with the chedder. The melted chesse together with the thick beef patty was simply amazing.
The missus being the seafood fan had the Alamack which is essentially a fish burger. Berg's version was deep fried and had a crispy crust that was not too oily. You can imagine that the Alamack was the souped up version of Macdonal's fillet o fish.
Both of our orders included a top up of $5 for a side of chips or better known as fries and a drink. The fries were thick and not oily which made them rather enjoyable with Bergs dipping sauce.
Do they live up to their name as the best gourmet burgers? My answer will be that they are quite good burgers but I am sure there are better ones around. At their price point, they could be one of the best though. There is no service charge but the usual GST is slapped on top of the price. Users of the Entertainer apps get 1 for 1 which is an awesome deal!
