Fueled by the enticing salted egg yolk croissants hype, we wanted to give it a try to see what is so special about this confectionery. Knowing that Asanoya have also jumped into the salted egg yolk bangwagon, We decided to visit to try it.
The bakery is located near to bugis junction and can be reached by turning left from the back exit of bugis+. Walk straight, cross the street and in another 20m, it will be on your left. The exterior does not give off the vibe that it is a bakery and looks more like a canteen of the office block.
The salted egg yolk croissant retails for $4.50 each which is in line or slightly more expensive than some of its other offerings. Comparing to the other bakeries that is offering the croissant, it is still cheaper which makes it a good starting point for trying to see if you like it or not.
The offering from Asanoya has sugar dust sprinkled on the crust of the croissant which is crisp. The croissant itself has a nice buttery smell but texture is a little on the hard side. I will very much have preferred that it is a tad softer and more fluffy. Having said that, this could have been the result of the time it had already spent out from the oven as it was packed to go.
The salted egg yolk filling on the other hand was sinfully delicious and ooze out when i tore the croissant into half. It is creamy and had a very nice texture.
I bought a total of 3 was given a loyalty card which grants me a stamp for every $10 spent. Having 6 stamps gives me a free cup of coffee and 12 can be redeem for a lunch set. A 10% discount voucher only to be used with purchase of $10 or more was also provided to be used for my next visit.
I will recommend the bakery for its beautiful and delicious confectionery. They are not only instangramable but also provides the quality carbs to fill up one's tummies. If you are there and keen to try the lunch sets, the beef bourguignon is not to be missed!
