Food Review: Xin Hao Ramen @ Bugis Cube - Hao(Good!) Ramen that is decently priced

Xin Hao Ramen is tucked away in a quiet corner in Bugis Cube. The ramen is quite good and comparable with many of the establishment Japanese Ramen chains.

We arrived to an almost full restaurant on a Friday evening. The restaurant is simple well spaced giving patrons ample room. Tables are on a first come first served basis. There is no menu but just a "noticeboard" where you select wooden tags and bring them to the counter.

At the counter, we are able to select the type of grilled chashu (lean meat or pork belly) to go with our noodles. If you prefer more lean cuts, do go for the lean option but personally I recommend the pork belly which is very tender and absorbed the grilled flavours a little better. If you are feeling slightly more hungry, you can purchase some add ons. The premium noodles is a bit misleading as what you are getting is just an extra serving instead of them being some better grade of noodles.

Delicious Pork Belly

Noodles used are thin straight type and texture is quite bouncy which was delightful. The Ajitsuke egg is well seasoned and my favourite part will be semi- liquid yolk. Each of us was also provided with a serving of fried Enoki. The mushrooms was fried to a crisp and very crunchy. I enjoyed dipping the mushrooms to soak up the rich broth which in my opinion enhanced their taste.

Missus love spicy food and ordered the spicy ramen while I went for the simple Shoyu. The spicy ramen had a good amount of chilli oil taste which was up to Missus expectations but I find the shouyu to have a better flavour. I enjoyed every single spoon of the delicious broth. Missus does not like pork so much so I ordered an extra serving of the delicious eggs for her.

 Spicy 7/10

 Shoyu 7.2/10

I will recommend this ramen stall if you want to have delicious noodles with a reasonable price tag. There is no service charge and the quality of the food is better than some of the popular ramen chains. Given the affordable price, and with some marketing, I can envision that this place will be popular and I may not be so lucky to be able to get a seat so easily the next time.
