Food Review: Todai @ Marina Bay Sands - Awesome seafood buffet todai for

Todai is one of the best if not the best seafood buffet restaurants that is not part of any hotel. It has outlets spanning across the globe and Singapore is proud to have one outlet in the upscale Marina Bay Sands. Serving snow crab and Alaska king crab legs, its value is second to none even after considering its premium pricing.

It is highly recommended to book the restaurant in advance as the restaurant can get full easily. It is suitable for families and will make a great venue for celebrations. VIP private rooms are available if some privacy is desired. Service is excellent and plates that are finished are promptly cleared by staff so patrons can fill up their tables with new dishes.

Seafood options available include crab legs which are juicy and being a buffet restaurant, patrons can help themselves with as much crab as they wished and they are replenished promptly once they are depleted. Scissors are provided to pry the tasty flesh out of the shell which can be a little thorny especially for the Alaska king crab. Jasons supermarket is selling around $9 for a piece of the crab so its really a great deal to enjoy this crustacean for the buffet price.

Green mussels, octopus and prawns are available to satisfy the seafood craving but the highlight will be the fresh oyster. The meat is really fresh and there is no unpleasant smell. A variety of condiments is available to go with this fine shellfish but the only complaints i had was that they are not the biggest around.

There are 2 variety of sashimi available, namely tuna and salmon which are freshly cut on the spot. Slices are thick and very enjoyable with the wasabi and soy sauce mixture.

If you enjoy sushi, there is a entire section dedicated to this delectable Japanese food that are freshly prepared.

After the seafood feast, patrons can turn their attention to the meats which include beef steak grilled to a medium doneness, pork belly, sausages, ham and also pineapples.  I was in the mood for some beef but i found done to be a little to dry but that was easily solved with the variety of sauces available.

Italian food such as pizzas which are thin crusts are available and pasta is also freshly prepared. Just choose the desired pasta and the type of sauce and a delicious plate will be there waiting for you.  Some korean pancakes and kimchi is also found in a small section. The yellow croaker fish is recommended but do be careful of its many bones.

There is a good variety of cold dishes and salads if that is your thing. Various tempura is also avaialbe if you are in the mood for some fried food. Chinese cuisine is not forgotten and some dim sum available. Mock shark fin soup is not bad. The cray fish done Singapore chilli crab style is also worth the calories.

There is also a live cooking station and patrons can choose the meats and vegetables to go with laksa or udon noodles.

For those with sweet tooth, the dessert and cakes section is enough to send patrons to wonderland. Soft serve ice cream, delicious cakes, mud pies, chocolate fondues are there to help you complete the meal.
