Food review: Angelina @ Capitol piazza Cityhall ~ Exquisite French confectionery with menu for every time of the day

Angelina, no this post has nothing to do with Ms Jolie,  open up with much hype and fanfare back in 2015. The restaurant has managed to outlast many restaurants and cafe in the cut throat business it is in. The brand celebrates more than a century of history since its inception in 1903. Singapore is proud to host its first South East Asia branch serving up its famous Mont-Blanc and hot chocolate . With its premium price tag, we check out if the restaurant is worth a visit.

We arrived to an exquisite dining location dressed in white gold. A beautiful combination which is a good showcase of fine french decorations  The restaurant is not busy which was unlike its heydays when crowds flocked to the 2 storey restaurant.

At the entrance also lines an array of tasty looking treats that will put a smile to anyone's face considering how desirable they are.

Space is always a luxury in land scarce Singapore so tables are placed quite close to each other. Beautiful artworks lined the walls and the ambiance seemingly makes you feel that you are in a nice restaurant in Paris.

They have an extensive menu with dishes fit from any time of the day from snacks to dinner. They have a decent range of artisan teas. If hot chocolate is your thing, don't pass up the chance to try their signature beverage, L'Africain.

Service is not the best with only 2 servers to cater to the entire restaurant. Our food also took a bit of time to arrive even though the restaurant had many empty tables. The wait is worth it and our dishes arrived gorgeously plated. We did not want any frills and keep it simple with only 1 mains each.

The missus had the pan sear snapper fillet that did not only score points on taste. The layer of colours make the dish appetizing with the skin of the fish well charred and crisp. The choice of artichoke puree provided a nice bedding for the lettuce which provided the crunchy textures that we so love.

We love to interact with our food and the chef provided us the opportunity to apply a glaze like sauce although it bear no resemblance to the lobster cream described in the menu.

My seafood risotto was curated nicely with special attention paid to the presentation of every ingredients. Grooves are cut onto the squid to make them curl up nicely and the scallops are seared to give a nice charred taste.

The risotto is dressed liberally with melted cheese sending waves of ohhh lala down into your tummy.

While the dish lack quantity as with most french cuisine, they make it up with quality. Hungry males may finished the dish hoping there were more.

We find the food tasty but service to be lacking. With food this good, it is a pity that the service quality did little favours for the whole dining experience. If you don't mind a slightly longer wait and have the entertainer app, do consider paying the restaurant a visit for its 1 for 1 deals.
