Hotel review: Rendezvous Hotel Club room/Lounge

Rendezvous Hotel is a upscale 4 star establishment located in the bustling arts and cultural belt in downtown Singapore. The hotel exuberates class with its artsy fartsy decorations and Victorian style atrium.

Located in between Dhoby Ghaut Mrt and Bras Basar Station, the hotel is easily accessible. The unique architecture makes it easily distinguishable and brightens up the otherwise boring landscape.

The hotel mixes a contemporary interior design with various art mediums to provide guests with a very unique experience.

We managed to snag ourselves an awesome rate at the club room which has 3 different styles, namely performing art, retro and Peranakan. We also did not have to wait in line at the regular check in counter and were lead by a guest relations officer to the Club Rendezvous which is their hotel lounge for club and suite room guests.

We were offered welcome drinks and also did the necessary paperwork in comfort and relaxation. The hotel does know how to take care of their guests. A personalised letter is also provided to explain the perks of our club room. The highlights will definitely be the usage of
the club lounge with Afternoon Tea from 2-5pm and the evening cocktails from 6-8pm. Another awesome perk will be the ability to have a 2h complimentary lounge access at the Changi airport which will be very useful for the avid traveler. I believe early check ins from 11am or late check outs until 4pm is part of the benefits but do double confirm with the GRO.

The club rooms are located at the top 2 floors of the hotel. Club lounge is located at the 11th floor so it will be wise to request for a room at the 11th floor. Depending on the room configuration, room sizes range from 25sqm - 29sqm. Not a long of space for club room standard in our opinion but the rooms are sufficiently large.

The room we are staying in should be the performing arts theme and it is well decorated with a contemporary design.

The work desk is large enough to get work done and the Bluetooth entertainment can be utlised to blast your favourite musics. Television is a decent 37inch and comes with a DVD player which you can borrow movies titles from the concierge. A master remote allows you to control the lighting and air conditioning. It can also be used as an alarm clock.

The restroom is large and well spaced. The toilet from Toto allowed the control of the heated seat as well as the pressure of the wash-let which is not a common feature found in most hotels. No more cold bottoms with the heated seat in the mornings!

The beautiful backlit main mirror and also the extendable mirror will be a delight for the ladies during makeup time.

Standard range of amenities expected of 4 star establishments is provided but it was a pity for them not to include premium offerings for their body wash and shampoo.

Rain shower is available but it was also regrettable for a bathtub to be excluded as part of the club rooms which already commands a premium.

The art theme continued with art pieces lining the corridors and even the floor numbers are made up of marbles spelling them out.

Balinese inspired swimming pool and a 24h gym is available. The outdoor jacuzzi is another great relaxation tool to cool off from the scorching sun.

A beautiful bar fondly named "The Library" sits at the lobby and is a great place to chill out for an evening cocktail while indulging in the plesant lounge music.

Not much was left of the afternoon tea session when we returned to the lounge. Some pastries, cake and fruits was offered for the afternoon tea, The fridge contain soft drinks and also sparkling water which you can grab as you wish. We did not fancy much of the pastries and had some of the cake with tea from the premium TWG label. The cakes were soft and quite good which is a must try. The TWG tea was without a doubt excellent and it was made even better with the lounge GRO serving it to you.

We returned for the evening cocktails with a good selection of finger food which included pizza, fried items and also some cheese.

Alcohol will of course be on the cards and given the high prices of spirits, it was a time to indulge with some drinks. We took shots of the menu to give you a idea of what can be expected.

Breakfast can be enjoyed at the lounge or you can head down to the award waiting straits cafe to enjoy the greater variety. It was an easy choice and we went with our breakfast at the lounge. Although it provided lesser variety and staples were only limited to bread, the dishes were more premium compared to those in straits cafe. We also ordered eggs from the friendly GRO to go along with our breakfast which arrived in good time.

As it was Easter Sunday, we were presented with chocolate Easter eggs upon our departure from the hotel which was a very nice gesture.

All in all, it was a wonderful experience staying at the club room. We totally enjoyed the premium offerings from the club lounge with tea from TWG and also the evening cocktails. We were well fed and also well hydrated by the hotel and I will definitely recommend a stay at this beautiful place. Complimentary wifi comes in at a very respectable speed of 6mbps so watching youtube will not result in lags.

If budget is less of a concern, the club room, with the added perks from the usage of the club lounge will be a awesome experience for the traveler or the couple on a staycation.
