Hotel review: Wangz hotel Superior Room @ Tiong Bahru - All rounder Boutique hotel

Nestled in the vibrant neighborhood of Tiong Bahru estate is the boutique Wangz Hotel. Rubbing shoulders with the surrounding quaint cafes, the hotel is a great base to explore one of the oldest district filled with art-deco shophouses and indulge in plenty of lifestyle and dining options.

Just 5 min walk from the nearest mrt station, Outram park station, the hotel is easily accessible and within reach of the various hot spots the city has to offer. The neighborhood the hotel is in was also voted as one of the most hipster by vogue magazine so there is lots to explore.

The facade of the hotel is easily recognizable with an artsy design that stands out from the crowd. The lobby is intimate and is aesthetically pleasing with various art pieces decorating the surroundings.

In case you ever need a computer, the mac in the lobby is available for usage .

Checking in is prompt and the staff make guests feel very welcomed and are always ready to assist. Their warm hospitality makes many of the established hotel chains to appear mechanical and this is one of the reasons we love boutique hotels. Every document that required our review has been prepared beforehand and there is no printing on spot which made for a efficient and fuss free checking in process.

A lone piglet guards the lift lobby and adds on to the list of interesting ornaments in the hotel.

The ambient music welcomed us to our Superior room which was decked with a beautiful contemporary design. We did not continue with the music playing in the background and promptly switched it off but thought it will be helpful for people who enjoy sleeping with some soothing music.

Our King size Sealy posturepedic beds provided the necessary comfortable rest along with the luxurious touch of the linen and duvets. A 37inch LCD tv provided the entertainment if required

A lone red chair seats in the corner with a fancy looking coat hanger adds on more colour to the beautiful living space.

A full sized working desk is provided and on it you will find accessories like an old ipod dock and the handy phone. We did not appreciate the shadows cast by the exterior design of the building and thought it may prove to be distracting if one is working on something on the desk.

The handy phone is very useful for tourists providing for insights on the various happenings around town,  free 4G internet services and overseas calls to selected countries. No worries about hefty roaming charges or the need to purchase an additional sim card. Very handy indeed.

You can also find out about the various shuttle services that will bring you to various locations around town.

The other corners of the room contained tea making facilities from Twinings which is adequate but nothing in the the region of premium category. Wine glasses are provided in room should there be a need to open a bottle of wine.

The mini bar is stocked and should there be a need to quench your thirst, the soft drinks are complimentary which is a nice touch.

In the closest, you will find the usual safe, ironing board and a pair of waffle waderobes.

A large mirror allows you to check yourself before you head out and also provided the illusion of a larger space.

Should the television prove insufficient, you can play some DVDs which are available from the front desk.

The in room dining menu will come in handy during those DVD sessions and provides a good variety of options which are pocket friendly.

The lavish bathroom enhances the overall stay with extravagant shower amenities from Gilchrist & Soames that will your body and hair will thank you for the pampering they deserve on a holiday or staycation.

The well designed bathroom coupled with the rain shower makes the stay in this room very enjoyable

You do not have to worry about forgetting to bring any of your daily necessities with the array of amenities provided.

During our stay the gym was unavailable and we understand it is now opened 24/7 should you need a workout.

The newly renovated rooftop restaurant aptly named Upper Place was something we also missed out during our last visit. There are both indoor and alfresco dining options which offers a great venue for a romantic date.

Our breakfast was held at Nectar Restaurant which is located at the ground floor and was filled with rows of colorful furniture.

Breakfast is a lavish spread of food items catering to various different palates.

We love the dim sum which you will have to be a little bit careful to get them out from the warmer.

A beautifully platted cold cut platter.

There is no egg station but you can order them from the friendly waitress whom will recommend the additional of a piece of hash browns.

Our latte was served in a pretty glass that showcased the various layers in the drink.

We filled the entire table with food and stuff ourselves silly.

The wifi speed is decent at 5mbps.

We enjoyed our stay at the Wangz hotel tremendously with the high standard of service rendered as well as the beautiful rooms. A slight pity there was no pool to have a swim in which will have made for a perfect stay.
