Hotel review: Grand Copthorne Waterfront Superior Room

Grand Copthorne Waterfront is a 5 star hotel located in the River Valley area right beside the hottest club in Singapore, Zouk. The Singapore river is just right at its door steps and provides a nice leisurely stroll in the evening. Being close to shopping malls like Great World City which have a nice cinema also made its location even better.

The hotel is currently undergoing some renovation work as of April 2016 and some inconvenience can be expected. The check in area has been shifted to a smaller and less posh looking location which can tend to be slightly crowded during busy periods.

The check in counters are manned by very professional and service oriented staff and always able to assist when required. Getting to our rooms required now to go up several escalators to reach the 2nd level. It seems that there was a wedding going on and pretty balloons line the area.

Our rooms are decently size at 28sqm and we love the furnishings in the room especially the luxury red curtains! The bedding all very comfortable and just the things we need for a good nights sleep.

A flat screen TV sits in the middle of the room.

The standard safe and ironing facilities as expected of a 5 star establishment is provided. Bathing robes are adequate and nothing out of the ordinary.

A small working desk which the missus happily uttilise for working on her make up.

The bathroom is spacious and clean. A pity that there is no bathtub. Amenities provided are acceptable. The shower head provided is similar to those at the showering rooms at swimming pools.

The rooms provided a nice view of the surrounding condominiums which are beautifully designed.

The hotel also have serviced apartments and the gym and outdoor pool are at the same floor. The pool is pretty with a several palm trees and feels like we are transported to a beach area. The surrounding view of the high rise buildings bring us back to reality that we are still in Singapore though.

The Jacuzzi are is tiny and will prove uncomfortable for more than 1 couple.

Few seating arounds to soak up the sun.

The gym is well furnished and provides a good range of equipment for a great workout.

Some of the pretty sights you will encountered if you have a romantic stroll around the hotel.

Breakfast is served at the 2nd level in BRIO's. Space is a luxury and the restaurant can get busy  easily. The food have a good variety which cater to different cusine. We found asian delights, the usual western like yogurt, bacon and bread and also a small japanese corner. There is also the standard live cooking station that whips up eggs on demand.

Wifi is not the fastest around but adequate to check your mails and go through facebook.

Overall, the stay at Grand Copthorne waterfront is comfortable and the service acceptable. The surroundings are posh with the various condominiums in the area. The proximity to the Singapore river also makes it a nice place to have a stroll after dinner. That being said, there is a lack of a wow factor and the recent renovations caused minor inconvenience to the travelers. For the couple looking for a staycation, it will be a great place to have a nice and quiet weekend. If you are in the mood to party, Zouk is just downstairs!
