Food Review: Quivo Pavilion Bukit Bintang

Quivo is a upscale and very cool gastro bar located in the high fashion shopping mall Pavilion. Its interiors is posh and focus and their cocktails are delicious. Its focus on contemporary Mediterranean flavours and use of fine ingredients makes it a crowd puller. Being behind a secret entrance at the back of Kate Spade boutique also upped its cool factor.

The cool restaurant is part of the Valiram group and found those less familiar with them, they are the group associated with TWG and Godiva in Malaysia so you know you are in good hands with Quivo.

We wondered into the Kate Spade store in Pavilion mall and noticed a secret entrance leading to Quivo.

Very delicious cakes line the sidewalk as the service crew lead you to your table.

Beautiful decorations could be found in the restaurant and we love the cool and quirky looking lights.

We start our dinner with some cocktails and the missus had the rose lychee martini which looks lovely and taste wonderful too. My Banana Colada was a nice twist to the Pina Colada and it was a cool combination of the coconut rum and banana. Sweet smelling and very tasty. The cocktails despite their nice sounding names are quite strong and provided the much needed buzz.

To whet our appetites, we got the Mezze platter to start and it was a great choice to go with our cocktails. The greens combined well with the hummus dip and we also enjoyed the feta cheese with the tomato based dip.

As usual, the missus went with a fish based dish and she had the Black Salmon. The salmon was grilled to perfection with its skin crisp and crunchy. The grilled lemon provided an interesting smokey flavour and we found it much easier to extract juice out of the lemon.

7.5/10

I went with the Beef Risoto which was very rich and creamy. The beef was superb and it was extremely tender and full of flavour. It was so soft that not much chewing was required. The greens provided the much needed balance to the otherwise heavy dish.

 7.5/10

The only issue we have of the place is that being a bar, smoking is allowed indoors which we did not appreciate the 2nd hand smoke. With the great service, cool crowd and very drinkable cocktails, this place is highly recommended.
